Happy Sunday evening — here’s what happened in AI while you were grilling, scrolling, or pretending to be productive.
🧪 ARC-AGI-3 Humbles Every Frontier Model
The latest ARC-AGI benchmark dropped this weekend, and the results are brutal. Every frontier model scored under 1% on tasks that 100% of human test-takers solved on their first try. Gemini 3.1 Pro led the pack at a whopping 0.37%. Grok 4.2 scored a clean zero. If you needed a reality check on where we actually stand with “general” intelligence — here it is.

🤖 Arm Built Its First Chip in 35 Years — and Meta Is First in Line
Arm, the company whose designs power basically every phone on Earth, just made its own chip for the first time ever. The AGI CPU is a 136-core, 3nm data center processor built for AI inference. Meta is the launch customer, with OpenAI, Cerebras, and Cloudflare already signed up. The AI chip war just got another major player.
🎙️ Speech AI Had Its Biggest Day Yet
Three major speech launches in a single day: Mistral shipped an open-source TTS model small enough to run on a smartwatch that beats ElevenLabs on benchmarks. Cohere launched what they claim is the top speech-to-text model. And Sanas rolled out real-time translation across 13 languages. The voice layer of AI just went from “cool demo” to “actual infrastructure.”
🔥 Hot Take: Jensen Says We Already Have AGI
On Lex Fridman’s podcast, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang casually dropped that he thinks “we’ve achieved AGI.” When asked if a company could be run entirely by AGI, he said “possible.” Reddit’s r/artificial is predictably split — half the comments say he’s selling shovels and calling it a gold rush, the other half say he might actually be right depending on your definition. Meanwhile, ARC-AGI-3 (see above) would respectfully disagree.

What else we’re watching: Sanders and AOC proposed banning all new data center construction until Congress passes AI regulation. Anthropic is reportedly in IPO talks for Q4 2026, potentially a $60B+ offering. And Claude got full computer control — keyboard, mouse, apps — with its new Computer Use feature.
